2020 Land Rover Defender Review

After many years of whispers and speculation around Gonzales, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette, the 2020 Land Rover Defender has finally arrived! With modern styling, a knack for off-road travel, and characteristic Land Rover levels of luxury, the SUV has been well received. If you aren’t familiar with what the model has to offer, our 2020 Land Rover Defender review will bring you up to speed!

Customization is a primary aspect of the offering, with two distinct body styles available. In addition to the design, our team at Land Rover Baton Rouge thought it would be a good idea to also touch on the off-road technology and driver-assistance features of the 2020 Land Rover Defender.

2020 Land Rover Defender: 90 vs 110

The 2020 Land Rover Defender comes in a 90 or 110 body design. Each one offers specific packages and models.

The Land Rover Defender 90 is the smaller of the two body styles. It features two doors and the ability to seat up to six people. The length of the 90 measures 180.4 inches overall. The First Edition is the lone model available for the 90, but there are four Accessory Packs that you can choose from.

The Land Rover Defender 110 is longer than the 90, with an overall length that measures 197.6 inches. With the 110, you can opt for 5+2 seats that will afford seating for up to seven passengers. There are six separate models of the Land Rover Defender 110 to provide options for every driver.

Off-Road Ability

As with all Land Rover models, the Land Rover Defender has the unique ability to travel off-road whether you’re near a marsh, desert, mountain, or plowing through snow.

The intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD) system is boosted by Electronic Traction Control (ETC). There’s also a Twin-speed Transfer Box to improve stability while on steep inclines or declines, and when off-roading or towing.

The Electronic Air Suspension gives you the opportunity to adjust the vehicle’s ground clearance. You can go 1.6 inches lower than the standard height of the SUV or extend the height up to three inches above its standard position.

Driver-Assistance Technology & Infotainment

Technology finds its way into many different aspects of the Land Rover Defender. Much of it is used to make your travels safer or to connect you with music and navigation on the go.

For instance, Blind Spot Assist and a 3D Surround Camera will provide unprecedented visual feedback about what’s happening around the perimeter of your SUV. Other driver-assistance and safety features include:

  • 360° Parking Aid
  • Wade Sensing
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Emergency Braking
  • Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter

There’s a similarly impressive list of infotainment technology that will make your travels even more enjoyable. The 10-inch Pivi Pro with Interactive Driver Display, the Connected Navigation Pro system, and the Meridianâ„¢ Sound System all stand out.
